Otto Hutt products are subject to a constant testing process. Each writing instrument is inspected by hand to ensure one hundred percent quality. Only when all quality criteria are met do the fountain pens, ballpoint pens, rollerballs and mechanical pencils receive the "Made in Germany" rating.

Since the 18th century, Pforzheim has been known as the "City of Gold" and has earned a first-class reputation worldwide for the production of jewellery, watches and articles of daily use made of gold and silver. To this day, a large part of the know-how of the jewellery and watch industry "Made in Germany" flows together here - about eighty percent of the jewellery exported from Germany comes from Pforzheim.
Inventive spirit and innovation have been rooted in the Black Forest for generations. Numerous traditional family businesses as well as a multitude of future-oriented technology companies bear witness to the region's creative power and economic strength. Surrounded by impressive nature and connected to the home of jewellery manufacturing, Otto Hutt has also enjoyed being part of this region since the company was founded.
Company founder Karl Hutt was an enthusiastic follower of the Bauhaus movement and felt highly inspired by the formal language of this new school of design. In the spirit of his Bauhaus contemporaries, he developed writing instruments that were distinguished by the best workmanship and perfect functionality. His design was also influenced by the straightforward, clear and functional forms of the Bauhaus. Even today, this overriding demand for a design form that serves function alone is reflected in the designs of Otto Hutt writing instruments.
